Mark your calendars! Whitman-Walker Health is hosting its 4th Annual East of the River Fall Fest – a school supplies giveaway and community party with live Go-Go by Sirius Company! On Friday, Aug. 23, from 3 to 6 p.m., stop by Whitman-Walker’s Max Robinson Center at 2301 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE – right near the Big Chair!

Enjoy live music, poetry, and mouth-watering food from Caribbean Citations while picking up free backpacks and other school supplies for the 2019-2020 school year.

In 2016, Whitman-Walker staff members (and fellow Washingtonians), Adisa Bakare and Dwayne Lawson-Brown, created East of the River Fall Fest to celebrate and support the historic Anacostia community. Since then, the event has grown to donate more than 300 backpacks and supply more than 350 meals to fall fest attendees! Past performers have included the Ushindi Performance Troupe of Split This Rock Youth Programs, DisgoFeva and of course Sirius Company!
