Grandmother of D.C. Council Member Dies of Coronavirus

Veronica Norman, grandmother of Ward 8 Council member Trayon White, died Saturday of coronavirus complications, the lawmaker said.
White, who announced Norman’s death in an Instagram post, said he received a call that his grandmother had been found unresponsive at her home.
“[The chief medical examiner] informed us that they could not transport her because it being a COVID-19 case,” the council member wrote. “This broke us down even more trying [to] scramble to get her body removed from the house.”
As of Monday morning, the District has 2,927 confirmed coronavirus cases and 105 deaths. Blacks accounted for 1,458, or about 50%, of those cases, including 83 of the deaths.
Ward 8 has reported 376 cases so far.
