The new $18 million Southwest Library (900 Wesley Place SW) opens May 15 boasting a formidable list of services and features, the D.C. Public Library announced.
The library has been closed since June 2019 for construction. Now, new and improved, the 20,000-square-foot space includes a meeting room for 100 people, three conference rooms which each accommodate 12 to 20 people, four single-occupant study rooms, an outdoor reading porch and an Innovation Lab with 3D printers.
The venue also showcases an environmentally sustainable de-sign with solar panels and a green roof. The renovations remain part of a wider effort to modernize all DCPL facilities — the 48-year-old Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Northwest counted among such initiatives that received a recent facelift and reopened last summer.
