The United States reported 44,360 new coronavirus cases Thursday, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.

The tracker also logged 870 coronavirus-related deaths in the country.

As of Friday, the U.S. has roughly 6.7 million coronavirus cases and 198,000 deaths — both tops globally —since the country’s first case was reported on Jan. 21, according to the tracker.

More than 30 million cases currently have been documented worldwide, with more than 947,000 related deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.
