Coronavirus vaccinations started Monday for teachers in the D.C. Public Schools system, with those who’ve already committed to in-person classes as the top priority.
Educators and staffers already working or who are set to return to classrooms next week will get to go first, while others will have to wait until Feb. 1, WTOP reported.
Presently, 79 public schools offer in-person instruction to nearly 1,000 students. Starting Feb. 1, almost 4,000 students will return to classrooms.
DCPS has partnered with Children’s National Hospital to inoculate school personnel at Dunbar Senior High School, WTOP reported.
As of Monday, the city has reported 35,505 coronavirus cases and 879 virus-related deaths, according to the D.C. Department of Health. Of the total number of cases, 4,191, or about 12%, are of residents 19 or younger.
