Nearly 18 months after the coronavirus pandemic gripped the U.S., pressure is building to extend a moratorium on evictions. President Biden and Congress are wrestling over how to secure an extension of the CDC moratorium. What do you think?
Peggy Miller, Washington, D.C.
Where is the compassion for landlords who have financial needs as well? So many people are taking advantage of this eviction moratorium. They’re not trying to pay the landlord any money on outstanding debt.
Nahs Ariel, Atlanta
If Congress fails millions of Americans by failing to extend the moratorium, the result will be mass evictions. This nation will forever be changed for the worse. How sad!
Debra Spence, St. Louis
I know quite a few low-income people and they are not paying the rent with the money they received. Enough is enough. Landlords have mortgages, too. They need to pay their rent or get out, period. I am tired of my tax dollars going to freeloaders. The government also pays their utilities. Stop it, please.
Gale Wright, Columbia, S.C.

Diana Nickerson, Houston
